New Friend 00:50
I've got a new friend, she sleeps on my bed She wears my jackets, she ruins couches She marks me with the pens in her sleeves She's got a stuffy nose, scrapped knees, blood on her jeans She flips her hair to the wrong side of her head She bites her fingers, lives in her pockets I've got this terrible cold coming on, clear my throat Now hold on while I pull myself back up from hell

We've got our backs to the wall And it's against it I fall The table's taking it's turn Your horses crash and then burn Still unsure of the hurt We broke our backs last night But we're still standing up right I never want it to end Only want to make amends Still unsure if it hurts

[Unfinished verse] Jump in the water; I wanna sit right there and Stare at the water; come with me baby, and we'll Swim in the water, and I won't let you leave Until I keep running in circles and circles and... [Unfinished verse] Jump in the water; I wanna sit right there and Stare at the water; come with me baby, and we'll Swim in the water, and I won't let you leave Until I keep running in circles and circles and... Jump in the water; I wanna sit right there and Stare at the water; come with me baby, and we'll Swim in the water, and I won't let you leave Until I keep running in circles and circles and... Treading on the water, and I will surely drown If I don't see tomorrow, the only thing I want is Misery and sorrow, and to not let you leave Until I keep running in circles and circles and...

Unfinished rough draft from my notebook: "I woke up in a cold bed Anxious of shivering blues inside of my head Gliding down the hallway as my heavy clothes dragged on And before anyone could even notice, I was gone I look up into the waking sky Behind the clouds, the moon was looking into my eyes Suddenly I felt a tingling in my toes As I walked on, my demons following me everywhere I would go I lifelessly drifted along the empty road Completely unsure of how the day would unfold Suddenly I was lifted off my feet As I woke from another sleepless dream Floating away, floating away, floating away, floating away Floating away across the city Up from the bay and into the grey morning sky As I wake up, like falling in a dream Like falling in a dream, like falling in a dream I've got to get away from here, get out somehow Leave all of my friends behind and get out of this town Fuck you all and goodnight to my sweet morning blues No one ever cared, no one ever loved me, I've got nothing to lose".

Fitzgerald 04:09
Meet me by my doorstep and take off your coat I know it's still winter, but summer shouldn't come Honey, yes, it's true, you've found someone to hold But still, I hold onto everything about you I love Open up your lips, dear, you haven't talked in weeks I've been feeding off your silence so long, it makes me weep When everybody wants to light your cigarette I wish you would come down now and pull me out of bed "Nothing is the end of the world" you said... "Nothing is the end of the world" you said... I'll throw away emotion to have you in my grasp Staying up all night for days, just pulling out the past When I drive uptown, I wonder where you'll be When everybody loves you, I wish that you loved me

Somehow 01:20
Somehow a rim is forming on the tip of a wearing glass The same way a person changes for the worst, yet remains last In a line of people claiming to have become stronger But a disillusionment only delays it for longer Somehow a color changes the way our eyes tell us everything From the pictures you take of yourself to the way we make ends meet But somewhere along the lines, you tried to teach me the letters But I've been in hell for longer, and I know better

What is it you're searching for? What's your current destination? Whatever you want to know I will give you information "Shut your face, you're such a bore" You say to me as I create A pleasant argument In an anxious situation Sail with me across the globe And I'll find you a destination And we can hold each other Until everything is faded

I once met the tallest girl on Earth She towered at twelve feet tall since the day of her birth One day, she met a boy who was just as tall And he crushed into the ground 'til she was nothing at all The tallest girl on Earth once said to me: "If you never ask, then you'll never be deceived" The tallest girl on Earth once said to me: "If you never ask, then you'll never be deceived"

Swept Sleepy 02:10
Unfinished rough draft from my notebook: "I was swept off my feet Watching my lover sleep A constellation carrying me like a giant hand From a giant made of stars, swept up from sand Your eyes are my videotape, flying towards the sea Am I really as tired as I should be? It's a lovely garden I play my piano in The sun is shining brighter than heaven A ghost is knocking on my door Am I really as tired as before? It's your bedtime now, get some rest"

Unfinished rough draft from my notebook: "Polytheum, you're driving me out of control again I'm sorry I wanted to go to school today Lying down, blurry faces leaking all around People crying on TV all the time Driving out of the city and nobody seems to notice No one I know really seems to care Everything seems a little greyer as I walk down an empty road"

Breathe slowly with me as we spin on our feet And the ashes and screams fill the air "How can this be?" becomes a symphony To the beat of a rocking chair Breathe slowly with me as we spin on our feet And the ashes and screams fill the air "How can this be?" becomes a symphony To the beat of a rocking chair

I was up late last night, wondering about who I am It never seemed so far I walked outside this morning holding a gun and a locket Rusted and shaped like a heart I never noticed the way the clouds move in unison As you tease the sky I never thought much of it until I noticed the ground Falling out from everyone in line I made it home late last night, the rain was my only friend As it washed away Everyone that I knew and loved, for better or for worse Yet, you still remain And I will wait for you at the station, holding a pistol and a postcard As the sun grows cold So kiss me goodnight and embrace me with 2000000 limbs Before I start to grow too old Give me your love Give me your love Give me your love Give me your love Give me your love

about

So yeah, here's that "weirdest fusion of Ride and The Verve you can think of" I mentioned in the Bandcamp description for Still People in Moving Images, all bundled up in a massive 42-track collection of scraps and experiments from before that album's time.

A good chunk of these songs come from a much earlier time in my life when I drew more inspiration from bands like Coldplay, Radiohead, The Verve, Oasis, Jeff Buckley, REM, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Ride, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Interpol, Counting Crows and Third Eye Blind; basically a more deconstructed and simplified version of the "slowgazing" sound you hear on Still People. A lot of the chord progressions from the first twenty or so tracks were directly inspired by those from Coldplay's first album, "Parachutes", the record that inspired me to pursue music as a profession.

Now, of course, this isn't everything I've recorded from 2011 to 2014; most of the songs I wrote during that timespan have never been recorded, or, in some cases, even physically played on a guitar or piano. The ones that were recorded have never been finished (with the exception of "Fitzgerald" and "Give Me Your Love"), and having lost the GarageBand files for most of them ("January" from Still People suffered the same fate at one point), I, for better or for worse, have no means of doing so.

I've also decided to release this compilation album exclusively on Bandcamp; I won't allow it to be featured anywhere else for the time being, because honestly, why waste the time? Especially when I don't even like most of the content on this record. Totally not worth the time to go through all of that just for mediocrity. In my opinion, atleast.

Merry fucking Christmas.
