Singing 06:29
I was lying in bed when the fools came around They lined up all in unison and let out a horrible sound And it rang in my ears and I said "Hey, what's this now?" And so I looked out the window and they stopped fooling about They started singing a lovely tune that i've never heard And I saw you dancing on a lonely street, holding onto my words So I ran out of my bedroom, right out through the door Just in time to see you standing in the front row with remorse And I glided a hand down your cheek and I said "Hey, what's this for?" And the voices that fogged my mind were your clever retort And I started singing along with them and I never even knew How that song went; the words just came right out of the blue And I finally realized as you walked out That I never knew what we were all about We were not singing, the words were just falling out of our mouths (Our mouths) Our mouths... You know I hate it when you look that way Don't cross my name out and hope I stay I'm always hearing your father say "You better love loving and you better behave" I never wanted it to be like that Reiterate and find a new format So lift me up and hope to die Before they drag me back into light You know I hate it when you look that way Don't cross my name out and hope I stay I'm always hearing your father say "You better love loving and you better behave" I never wanted it to be like that Reiterate and find a new format So lift me up and hope to die Before they drag me back into light (You know I hate it when you look that way) (Don't cross my name out and hope I stay) I was walking around some old childhood street (I'm always hearing your father say) ("You better love loving and you better behave") Sometime after 6AM with a pulse in my feet (I never wanted it to be like that) (Reiterate and find a new format) I stumbled upon a bunch of words and I said "Hey, what's this mean?" (So lift me up and hope to die) (Before they drag me back into light) But then I switched them around and found a different meaning (You know I hate it when you look that way) (Don't cross my name out and hope I stay) I saw your face in the letters as they glowed a new light (I'm always hearing your father say) ("You better love loving and you better behave") Then I looked around to find it was suddenly night (I never wanted it to be like that) (Reiterate and find a new format) I felt your hand touch my arm and you said "Look, this ain't right..." (So lift me up and hope to die) (Before they drag me back into light) And the kiss you pulled me into truly opened my eyes They all started singing along with us, but they couldn't even see How truly broken a bond like this could ever really be And I finally realize as you walk back out That I may not ever know what this is all about Because we are not singing, the words are just falling out of our mouths (Our mouths) Our mouths... Our mouths... Our mouths...

I am overcoming a fear of the ocean, my eyes are falling down Upon where the waves touch my toes as they dig into the ground Home seems so much farther away now than it ever needs to be Still, the salt soaks into my skin in a raging bittersweet I am overcoming a fear of your eyes, the doubts that shake my hands Like a million boots clogging through hell, I feel like I can't stand I want to just turn and run, but the spark in me is too strong There's a face in the fog that tells me I should've never waited so long The sugar building up in my throat will eventually melt... Some people fall the way others succeed Some just give in so they can believe In what they are told, even if it is wrong But others will not give in for so long Some people come the way others will go Some will stay to watch you go out the door But remember one thing when you finally leave I will never give up on you so easily...

Can you still hear me from across the state? Are you still unraveling in threads of hate? You're always welcome inside, you can't hold your breath for the rest of your life You've got to let it spread it's wings and fly I'll be with you if you want tonight... Yeah... There's a light I hold that you forgot You cling to everything I am that you are not I'll always give you a ride, but you can't hold your breath your entire life Christina you're the only thing I have It starts to feel like a phaser, it starts to feel like a trend It starts to feel like a porno, I start to feel us bend It starts feel like it's over, it starts to feel like the end With you and me in a porno, always making amends It starts to feel like the reason why you never talk It starts to feel like a torture, it starts to feel like a walk It starts feel like a question, it starts to feel too rough With you and me in a porno, it's like it's never enough It starts to feel like a tracer, it starts to feel like a game (You can't hold your breath for the rest of your life) It starts to feel like a porno, I feel us always tame (I'll always give you my light) It starts to feel like the reason why you never talk (But you can't hold your breath for the rest of your life) With you and me in a porno, it's like it's never enough I jump against the atmosphere, it pushes me back down to the Earth I lift you up against the hemisphere, you're floating freely without a word (I jump against the atmosphere, it pushes me back down to the Earth) I'm always being crushed by your love, I still feel it in my hands, every thousandth ton (I lift you up against the hemisphere, you're floating freely without a word) Christina, someone's out there that you need more than me

Glass Horses 04:17
There is a girl running around in the park Running through the rain, she was looking for her heart She lost it somewhere in the breath of the morning Remembering the people she knew she was forgetting She sets glass ornaments on the shelves in her basement and turns away... She rides glass horses and throws away her spirit to her cold-grown days... There is a girl who will never leave her house Sitting down by the window to watch the raindrops out Of the grey Seattle sky into the cracks in the pavement She holds her hands to her chest and thinks of engagement She makes clay figurines of the people in the city and sets them on display... They ride glass horses and set aside their feelings, she hears them say... "Well maybe you're right when you say that I haven't any time; Well maybe you're right when you say that I haven't any life to give..." There is a girl who i've been looking around for Since the day I started school, since the day I was born I once had her in my grasp until she slipped through the summer One by one, she teared away at the seams of ever color She had brown eyes and black hair, breaking time, I still hear her speak... I'll ride glass horses until the day she forfeits and comes crawling back to me... Glass horses we ride until the day we die... Glass horses we ride until the end of time...

Listen to the sound, listen to the weather Look up to the sky, birds are dropping feathers You've only got this one, run before they go and find her Take over the lead of the temple climber Listen to your heart, what's it really tell you? Burning out the lights, darkness on your avenue You're fighting overseas, make it so you can't be blinded The controversies of the temple climber This is my one and only chance, it's not even worth a final dance And if you're tired of performing on a ballroom stage, then tell me This was my one and only chance, it wasn't even worth a final dance This was my one and only chance, it wasn't even worth a final dance (And if you're tired of performing on a ballroom stage, then tell me) This was my one and only chance, it wasn't even worth a final dance (If you're tired of a suicide play, then tell me) This was my one and only chance, it wasn't even worth a final dance (If you're tired of a ballroom stage, don't tell me) If you're tired of a suicide play, don't tell me If you're tired of a ballroom stage, then tell me If you're tired of a suicide play, don't tell me WOOH!

There are times when I don't know what to say Letting words drift violently away There are times when I look into your eyes As black lightning bolts trickle down your thighs I don't know how far you are up north But I know you'll disappear if I don't step forth I can see through the soul of your city from an airplane I just wonder if i'll see you again Now you're holding my stiffness in the dark of the cold Letting your neon smile lighten up the snow The faces passing by reassure the symphony But I just don't know if I can pull you in close enough to me We were up until the morning struck us down, getting lost in conversation Swimming through literature for two months straight, until you lost your patience Leaving my troubled mind to traipse aimlessly, out of the fear That you are losing me to your heart, dear You know what I think about when we talk about it But I don't know if you'll shout when we talk about it You're standing so far away when we talk about that You know we don't have to say if you don't want to talk about that I wonder how close we can move when we talk about it I can still circle around you when we talk about that I'll be up the entire night if you want to talk about it You say you won't, but you just might need to talk about that It's not that hard And it's not too late You know what I think about when we talk about it But I don't know if you'll shout when we talk about it You're standing so far away when we talk about that You know we don't have to say if you don't want to talk about that I wonder how close we can move when we talk about it I can still circle around you when we talk about that I'll be up the entire night out of the fear That you are losing me to your heart, dear

Are you still waiting in the snow? Holding on tightly to what you should know? The final piece falls into place When there's nobody around, it's no longer a race I'm still waiting for your love Hiding in your shadow until the dawn If I find a way out of this maze Then be still, dear, i'm coming your way Am I wasting all of your precious time? Do you have anywhere to go tonight? You're slowly burning out my soul Spirits flying in from the unknown They don't know how to dance anymore They don't make love like they use to before The final piece falls into place Just hold on, dear, i'm coming your way Before your beautiful face is drawn away into the flames Do you want to just get up on stage and dance? Do you want to just get up on stage and dance? Do you want to just get up on stage and dance? Do you want to just get up on stage and dance? My ears are bleeding My ears are bleeding (Let's call it a night...)

about

This new EP compiles a selection of nine discarded tracks from sessions for my first album, Still People in Moving Images, with many of the songs predating the ones you hear on the actual album. Also features two stripped-down versions of well-appreciated tracks from the album.
